Some of my users are asking for an option in usercp for them to be able to disable automatic smilie parsing within their posts.

whilst i dont want to completely disable smilies for the forum sections they post in i'm after setting it as being a user specific option so users can either have them parsed (as the default) or set a check box in their options to disable smilies.

which is a very old hack that appears todo what i want but its for 3.0.1 will this still work in the 3.6 range? or is there a better way of doing it that anyone knows of.

I have searched hi and low for this modification for 3.6.4 -- I haven't been able to find it. I wish I knew more about php coding but maybe someone has this and will see this topic.
