Default 2 more competitions

Hello,

I want to ask if vb.org could implement the all time wanted Coder/Designer of the Month! It will encourage coders/designers more to submit modifications and support them even more!

Then I would also like to see Tutorial of the Month!Like select from vbulletin programming articles the best ones!

Thank you

It's going to take more than some silly competition to get coders and designers to get even more motivated/encouraged to submit more. I think staff resources being stretched to hold competitions is a bad idea when they could be working on the database.

Designers? I don't think .org staff acknowledges designers. infact, I'm sure the staff would love to have us submit more, even though more work has been enforced on contributors because of the new layout of the database. that said, competitions aren't the solution, staff working on a solution (esp to the graphic database) is a nice solution for starters.

Competitions are only a temporary solution, it will keep the average member/contributer here for so long before they really see the problems here and the lack of progress being made. what then? after they contributed for 3 months they stop support, packup and leave?

Why do you think most of the contributers have left? Such a great community, pity certain areas are wasted and go ignored.

The tut of the month idea is actually a good one, but sadly not enough tutorials are written for it to be viable

I have to totally agree with , tutorial of the month, designer of the month, etc.

Any time you can offer someone a few minute's in the spotlight, encourage's people to share with a community. I personally have been asking for some of these idea's to be used here for a while now. Hopefully with some of the change in management here, we will soon be able to see some of these idea' come to life.

How can a community grow when we only have a few member's left that can actually modify the new vbulletin? I would love to see more tutorials on working with php and mysql code. This area of interest is very hard to find, anywhere. I have been trying for several months to find information on working with new vbulletin, and all i really get are non coder knowledged infromation. Here is just an example of what i am talking about: not being ungreatful, but what does the information posted to my reply tell me? I thought i had asked the question in laymen's terms, in order to get an idea on where to begin with coding. Even after the replies i recieved, i am no farther ahead then i was when i first asked.

So i have become very discouraged in being able to learn to work with vbulletin code. In the end, this is going to have a greater affect on site's like this one, because there truly is no real way to learn to code, if you can't get affective information or how to's. Therefore, a tutorial based section and award system is a great incentive to this community, in my opinion. The site doesn't even have to give out money, just give the said winner of the month a nice sign in the tutorial, or design of the month. Like is done with the Mod of the Month...

Very simple solution to a very simple problem if you ask me.......but then again, i am just one person.

Maybe having a contest will boost submissions

Contests aren't a bad idea, though I would much rather see mentors.

SitePoint has a nice setup for this - though of course it wouldn't have to go as far as staff permissions.
