Quick question for you guys...

I am thinking about starting a project on my own - I currently admin a 'big-boards' forum but I am NOT a coder/developer - I don't deal with code, I deal with making the site better (I lead a project with a number of developers who worked under me)...I am a very involved admin with my finger on the pulse of our community and what they want to make the site better.

So, like I said, I want to start a community/project of my own on a totally different topic...but as I said, I'm no developer, so I need someone to install vbDrupal as well as vBulletin along with a couple (3-5) hacks/mods/plugins.

What can I expect to pay for a service like this? I might be able to get one of the developers I work with to do it for me, but he'd never expect me to pay him, and I'd absolutly refuse to let him do it for free...so what's a fair price?

Any feedback you can offer would be great!

The installation of what's been mentioned shouldn't take a great deal of time. vBulletin is simple to install, for those familiar with its setup and the hacks surrounding are becoming easier to install as the project is developed.

If you're looking to pay someone, my estimate would be $25-$50 as that sounds about fair.

vBulletin takes literally seconds to install and the hacks, as mentioned above, are following suit, so you'd probably only be using 10-20 minutes of a persons 's time.

Thanks SaintDog - I'm still trying to figure out if vBDrupal will do what I want - I'm sure it will, but for someone who is used to saying, "I want something that does this, this and this!" then just having it happen...its hard.

I don't want to take advantage of the guys at work - we've built a pretty good relationship over the last year and I don't want to strain that by asking non-work related project questions.

If I went to one of them with a list of things I wanted and an open checkbook, they'd do it - but I don't want to ask to many questions

From my experience, money talks to most people. I try to be fair when doing work for others and base it on the actual work, which is where I pulled that estimate from (past installs and such).

It's not a great list, so to me, you wouldn't be asking too much

Is there like a network somewhere that allows you to post projects for coders to view?
