I dont let mods ban, I found out that leads to problems. If someone is getting pissed at the boards regular posters and starts messin with the site I send them a pm that I don't have a problem with them but if they force me to I will have to keep banning them so they should just chill out and enjoy the site. Only 1200 members but no bans yet!

We use PM, or edit posts stating the reason if it concerns something that is obviously against our board rules.
If one of us finds something of which he is not sure whether it is permitted or not, or how strict the measurements should be, he posts it in the admin&mods section, where we can decide together on the actions to take. No discussions on the forum about any of these things. It works well. You sometimes get some arguments back per pm, but generally everybody accepts what we say. In the end they all see our point. If we have a rule that our members don't like they can start a poll. If they all agree we will just change the rules. Right now they are polling about the rule not to show licence plates on pictures of our cars. The majority is against the rule, 2 are in favour. In this case we will have a vote with all members later. It works well, we never have to ban anybody, and arguments between members generally end in each of them apologising to each others, or at least accept the fact that the other has a different opinion. We are all known to the members. I am a member myself of Ncturnals board, where they accept everybody and have more members than we. I find the "atmosphere" there very friendly. You can see that some people get irritated sometimes by others, but they keep it all very low. Obviously his method works. |
