Default Revert: None of 3.5.4 scripts work in 3.6
I had vB upgade me. Went fine, but then, I get notice that 36 templates need to be reverted. After some questionning, learn that you revert and then paste your custom scripts back in the templates and save.

But when I do that, I get a database error 1064. vB technical support says have to change code and to come here for help. I didn't write the scripts and can't fix them, unless there is a common element that screws them up. I pasted two of them into the Mac Texteditor so they wouldn't be corrupted by Word. Then I stopped reverting until I can get help one way or another.

Ideas? :help: If you can get me ideas, I have a consultant who knows php, but not vB.

The reason they need reverting is because you're using a Style designed for 3.5.4 on a 3.6.0 Forum. You'll either have to go in and manually update each of those 37 templates (Tedious and time consuming) or find another Style that's made for 3.6.0.

Thanks. So the question is, what's different about styles designed for 3.5.4 and 3.6? What can't I do in 3.6 that I could in 3.5.4?

Here's a simple answer to your question: all the code changes made to vBulletin Files from 3.5.x to 3.6.x have matching Template Changes. So basically, without the Template Changes, you won't be able to use most of the new features of 3.6.0.

There is a list of some of the template edits made from 3.5.4 to 3.6.0 on vbulletin.com.

Thanks. Things are moving quickly. I have a friend who's a veteran vBer looking at it and this thread. We'll see what she can do. I'll check out vb.com.
