Default Very confused on permissions

I setup a series of moderators. Each moderator was suppose to be able to edit post, move them around, etc, etc. However, it seems becuase I set "Can Moderate All Forum", now they can view users in Mod, edit things, and even delete postings. How do I stop that while allowing them to moderate all forums?

Hello precharge

You say you set them to moderate all forums, have you set the permissions individually for each moderator? If not you need to go to

admin cp/forums & moderators/show all moderators/

then you need to click edit on each forum that each moderator covers and change their permissions for those forums. If you do the permissions for the parent forums you will save a lot of work.

Sorry I havent found a short way of doing this yet, there may be a mod but if there is I dont know of it yet.

As a moderator like that, they were not able to soft delete and move postings or am I mistaken? Doesn't seem to be many moderator oriented options and super mod is definatel not an answer.

In the individual moderator settings you can set them to any level from just allowing them to edit to allowing them to ban a members username, i have copied thelist below of options you have in the area I directed you to above:

You can give them as much or as little power as you wish this way but it is time consuming and you must have a bit of patience to get through it all depending on how many moderators you have and how many forums you have.

Good luck

I'm quite confused about the permissions as well. I have set 2 users to moderators, yet they can't edit any posts. One of these accounts was a testing one for myself, I have logged in and don't seem to have any extra privileges.

When i go here, I see an empty list.

Should be at least seeing my testing moderator user account?

Hello Peasoup,

Which version of vb are you using?

After you changed the two accounts to moderators did you go to the forum manager and add them to the forums you wanted them to be able to cover?

The full process to making a moderater in vb 3.5.4 is:

1. Admincp - users profile and either change the primary usergroup to moderator or add moderator as a secondary group.

2. Admincp/forums & moderators/forum manager - next to the forum you want to add the moderator to go to the end column (moderators) using the pull down choose add moderator.

This then brings up a page for you to add the username of the moderator and set all of the moderator permissions. The persmission 'Can delete posts refers to soft deleting'. Then you repeat for all moderator accounts and forums, as far as i know there is no fast way to do this.

As I said above this is how it was in vb version 3.0.... and is in the forum I now have 3.5.4 but I cant say for 3.6

Hope this helps.

Karen

Thanks heaps tinkerbell!

I thought the process would be straight forward, just a matter of where to go.

I have version 3.54 too.
