Inserting USERS into MySQL database?
I'm starting a closed forum and I have user tables from an Excel spreadsheet that I need to insert the MySQL database for vBulliten. The user list is about 6000 members (name and password).
Can anyone point me to a resource or offer advise on how best to accomplish this task? Thanks & Best Regards - W |

Not that easy I'm afraid, there are a number of tables that data has to be inserted into for every user, plus the password as such is not stored, but rather a hash built from the password and another field known as the 'salt'.

If you also have their email address stored (without that, it would be almost impossible to import the users), then you could export the Excel sheet to a CSV-file (Comma Seperated Values), and use ImpEx to import them into your board.
You can download ImpEx from the vBulletin members area. |

Thanks Marco,
I do have email addresses, etc.... Just about any field that vBulletin would need...I just lack the technical skill. I guess I should be asking if anyone could help me with this project and what the rates are for a project like this. All the best - W |

Is there a forum name that I should be looking for? All I have are the tables in csv. Thanks! |

Sorry for the thread bump, I'm still needing a little help with importing users.
In ImpEx can I import ONLY user names and email addresses? This is a brand new forum and I'm not importing an existing board. I DO have an Excel file with all the user data, specifically email addresses and names. Is it possible to import new users as .csv (as mentioned above) and if so which import setting would I use? Thanks for any insight! -W |
