Are you making it or requesting it?
Thanks, Alan, |

Requesting it, and hoping brilliant minds here can take this software to the next level, by providing the user with better / more user friendly email subscription controls, also for the benefit of admins who are building complex special interest knowledgebases and need this software to provide a reliable means of delivering information to the home computer of members who desire such.

I dunno if I can bump a thread, but hell, that's exactly what I need...
Some sort of an emailed digest version of what's new on a forum : the perfect newsletter, that makes itself by itself... Cool... |

I would like to bump this, as I need this. Yes I've searched, but haven't found anything.
A big thing for me would be for users to be able to do the following. Permanent Subscription - User wants to subscribe for all time. Expiring Subscription - This could be done in one of two ways, either the subscription is marked 'inactive' after the thread has received no posts for x amount of time (admin definable), or it is deleted after 1 month of no activity. Or something. This is for people who have a large number of subscribed threads to wade through. Or perhaps something for users to mark 'need to reply to', rather than read/unread. I dunno. |

This is a GREAT idea! I have a lot of members who subscribe to every thread they post on... but once the threads are no longer active, the subscriptions still remain... if there was a way to have a user's subscribed threads expire after X days of inactivity, this would be ULTRA helpful! |

In a users subscribed threads listing, user should be able to see the forum thread subscriptions are located at.
Clicking on the forum would show all threads user has subscribed to in that forum. The user should be able to easily check/delete any threads in this forum that they no longer wish to subscribe to. |

MJM - thanks for the input...
however I am looking for an automated way of pruning subscriptions, such as a scheduled task - rather then relying on each individual member to remove their own subscriptions. |

I'd also loveto see such a mod, it would really be great for low volume forums. Also for getting users to return to the site when they see a a post of interest, and provide a nice time saving service for the end user.

hi ho
this post is a bit stale but has anyone cooked up a cron job script for this yet? It shouldn't be too hard to manage the logic I suspect (but I shan't reinvent the wheel if someone else has already done it): 1. gather all the threads 'lastpost' UNIX timestamps where the lastpost time stamp is older than some period into an associative array, 2. read through the subscribethreads table and where the subscribed thread matches one in the array, delete that record. Anyone done this? |
