Ideas for external users posting and easy register.
Hi. I have some questions about how to incorporate users from other websites into vbulletin. I'd like to if possible keep them from having to register at my domain and if possible not even supply an email address so I don't spook them about spam.
I'm building an application that uses vbulletin as a user and messaging manager. The application is similar in function to digg.com but appears as a poll via javascript / xml on other sites. I just need to create a post and a poll vote and if the user is not registered I do that first. I'm not really sure of the best / most secure / internet standard way to do something like this but here is what I am planning: I'm planning on passing the external site's userid and username (they are always registered , if not I'll have the email address passed) to vbulletin on my domain such that when I register a user it will be: username = user #from externaldomain.com email = user#@externaldomain.com password= random chars I appreciate any comments from the great minds here. Thanks in advance. |
