OK,I have see so many hack for this and have tried some version, thank you guys for this.
now I find a easy way to display lasttitle in home and forumdisplay.
I want to release my own hack.
This hack is for 2.0.0 and later vb version.
before install this hack you should read this first:
  • only need two file to simple edit
  • only need to add a piece of code
  • display lasttitle in sub forums
  • can display last thread's icon
  • when you Delete or move the last thread or edit a "last thread" title, the "last title" remain correctly.
  • can display a "full title"
  • don't need to modify sql
  • easy to be installed and removed
I create it base all the hacker first do hard work in this hack, thanks.
have fun!

This adds a query for each forum you have on your board, so expect the load to go up in a surprising way.
There are lots of ways to accomplish this hack, most of them will kill your server.

I think a hack by PPN that adds a table field, for the last title.
That's the best way.
The easy way isn't always the best way.

Also there is a rather easy one, pretty new as well, but it does use a bit more resources.

yes,I think PPN's hack is a best way to sever.
But It's have some problems to be solved.
and I think It's should edit postings.php too to get a correct last title for a addon. It's heavy edit the files and sql.

postings.php doesn't need to be edited as after it does editing it runs a function called updateforumcount which is used to update the last poster time, username and number of posts on the forum index page it simply piggy backs on that

I think you can do a more test on your hack .
when the admin or mods edit the subject or move a last thread to a other forum if the thread is a "lastthread",the forum home's "lasttitle" can't be update.
