ICQ, AIM, MSN, Yahoo Online Status for vB 3.6
Back by popular demand! After being contacted by several vb.org forum members, I have brought this modification back to life with a vB 3.6 BETA. After a few weeks of bug reports and the mod being released to the wild, I will release a stable version and begin planning and adding new features. Please post any bugs you find in this thread, and I will do my best to fix them in a timely matter. Enjoy!

Beta Update: After running the hack myself and seeing several other people use it, it appears that I can safely remove the "BETA" portion of this hack. The first release, 1.5.0 should be out tomorrow (10/19) (with a minor tweak or two). Thanks!

Edits: 2 Template Edits (3 if you use both postbit and postbit_legacy)

Please note: This modification is currently in BETA. While I have done my best to work out all the bugs, the end user may still encounter some problems. If you have a problem with the mod, please post a reply in this thread.

What it does:
This modification displays your AIM/ICQ/MSN/Yahoo Online Status in the postbit_legacy or postbit templates, as well as on the member info page, using an updating icon. Uploading the modification will add a new setting category called IM Online Status, where you can choose the server you use to display a users IM Online Status. Server lists, etc, can be found at OnlineStatus.org. There is also an option built in to turn this mod off and display regular IM Online Status Icons should you have problems.

To Install:
Download the .zip file attached here, and upload the product via the product manager in your admin CP. Then open Install.txt in the zip file and follow the instructions for template edits.

To Upgrade:
This is the first version of this mod for 3.6. If you are upgrading from 3.5, I suggest you reapply this mod from scratch. Upgrading from version 1.0.x of this mod to version 1.5.x is not supported.

A few notes about custom icons... I have found through testing that using custom icons on your web server can make the online status icons load a lot faster. I suggest you download the icons from whichever online status server you use, and upload them to your forum directory (I put mine in images/icons). This is not necessary, just a little tip.

Please Please Please remember that this modification is in BETA and things can go wrong. I can not and will not be held responsible for anything this modification may do to your forum or theme. As always, I recommend that you backup your database before applying this modification. Also please note that I reserve the right to remove this modification at any time. Cool... Isn't that embed to vB though?

Or does it only show that you have set up an MSN account for example, without showing current status?

I haven't had a chance to make screenshots yet, but you can see the ones from vB 3.5.x here. It shows the Online Status of the user, meaning if you're on AIM, you'll get a colored icon, while if you're offline in AIM, you'll get a darkened icon. This functionality is only built in for Skype, IIRC.

That's definitely something I'm looking into. In the interest of time, though, I just released a straight port of the mod.

The Online Status system currently doesn't support Xfire. If you know of any APIs or other ways to put a users Xfire online status on a website, please let me know and I'll do my best to add it in.
