[DBTech] Threadmins and Group Moderators v2 (vB4)
Developer Last Online: Mar 2023
Threadmins and Group Moderators is a moderation enhancement for single users (who can receive permissions to modify their own threads, or single threads and social group discussions) as well as allow for usergroups to be set as 'group moderators' and allow the users in such usergroups the same moderator permissions.
Uses Threadmins and Group Moderators is a self moderation system that allows threads to be moderated by the user that created them. Users can be given permissions to edit, delete, sticky, open/close or be immune to such actions. Also it allows users to be assigned as moderators to a single thread or to a single Social Group discussion and allows usergroups to be assigned as moderators to forums. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you like this mod please hit the button to the right ----> Please remember to click the, button to the right if you installed the mod ----> What does 'Marking As Installed' do ? * It helps you to stay on top of updates - members who have installed modifications will be notified by us whenever new updates are available. * For security issues - vbulletin.org will contact all members who have installed a modification whenever a security issue is brought to their attention. * Marking a modification as installed also helps us know how many people are using our work, giving us extra incentive to provide more features and new modifications. I am intrigued though on exactly why you would want this functionality... Matt |

For example in this thread (your thread), I will accept if you delete my post, but I don't accept from you to edit my post and maybe write something that I didn't want to say it or write it. This is my post, keep it as it is or delete it, that is why I want this feature. I have +20,000 users and I want to give them all the permissions to moderate their threads (but without edit option) |

I agree that if you give users the ability to mod their threads, it would be useful to limit it to delete only -- not edit.

Ok, I'll see what can be done and whether we can introduce such a feature.

Hi DBTech, I'd like to report an issue we're having with this mod on our forum. Running vB 4.2.0 PL3, Thread Admins are not working as expected. When assigning administrative permissions to a specific user in a thread, users are being told they have insufficient permissions to access the desirable functions. It seems the mod enables them to see the options, but not to use them.
The example I'm speaking of is in a currently closed thread where the user in question has been given full thread administrative permissions. They are unable to edit any posts (receiving the "This thread is closed!" warning). They are unable to post while the thread is closed, thus unable to use the "Re-open thread after posting" option in the quick reply box, despite the mod making it available. Also, when using the "Administrative" drop-down menu and attempting to perform a moderator action (such as open/close for example), they receive this message: Quote:

I think we have a working fix for this problem. I'll prepare it for release tomorrow. One quick question about this, does this tend to happen to other users who aren't using the Threadmins or User Threads part of the mod, or is it only happening to the users assigned the Threadmins permissions?

Hi Matt,
Thanks for the reply. I believe this only happens with users assigned threadmin permissions. I haven't encountered any problems with users that already have moderator permissions over these areas. It seems they're being rejected on the basis that they don't really have permissions as a moderator, but are only being permitted to see the moderator actions and not use them. Thanks again, Kybyrian |

Hi everyone,
A bug fix for a number of minor issues taking Threadmins and Group Moderators to version 2.0.5 for the vBulletin 4 series. These fixes should fix a number of issues users have had with permissions conflict. The full changelog is here: Fixed: Issue with some moderators being unabled to edit certain threads. Fixed: Issue with some users being unabled to edit threads when they've been assigned Threadmins permissions. Fixed: Commented out Threadmins menus where not usable. Changed the following files: /dbtech/userthreads/includes/class_core.php /dbtech/userthreads/hooks/editpost_start.php |
