I am using the Check4Spam mod one of my forums and love it (it sends for moderation any post with a url in it for a members with less than x posts). Its been extremely helpful. I wanted to install it on another forum, but when I checked here at vb.org, the check4spam thread, there was this message:

Sorry to bump this (I ban people on my forum for doing this!!); but I would really like some alternatives to this.

Oh wow. Check4spam has really saved my site from spam. I really hope someone will create something similar.

The Check4SPAM mod has worked wonders on my forum but I don't see anything similar for vB 4.0 - does anyone know of a mod that can prevent links being posted in the body of posts (controlled by usergroup)?

You could just use vbStopForumSpam to stop spambots, and Akismet to put posts containing spammish material in moderation.

Also, you shouldn't use Check4Spam, as it has been graveyarded and the mod author has explicitly stated nobody is allowed to run it on their forum

Which is why I'm asking for an alternative. This looks promising.
