Lynn,
Thanks for the help. I thought there was a directory testvb/forums but there is not. It looks like there is only testvb and all forum files are in that file. Testvb is a subdomain of my live site. So if I do what you said and place my VB index.php in testvb (it was deleted when vbadvance was renamed, this was done by freelancer!!!) I will then have both a testvb home page and testvb forum home? What would be the Url then if I rename the vb indes.php to forums.php?? |

If you keep your vbulletin files in the /testvb directory and don't create a /forums directory inside the /testvb directory (like on your live site), then you may rename your vbulletin index.php to forums.php and change it in the option I mention above. Once you do that, you may put your vbadvanced index.php file in the folder and you will have vbadvanced at index.php and your forums at forums.php

so the vbdavance home pge url would be /testvb and the forum home page would be testvb/forums.php right? (After I make the changes.)

I have done the tools.php things but no longer working! I still cannot log in. I think this al related to the index.php for test forum is missing. This should fix. Right? |

Your vbadvanced home page url would be testvb/index.php and your forums would be at testvb/forums.php
What did you do with the tools.php file? You used it in your testvb/admincp folder, right? |

If you change your cookie domain, then you will screw things up for you and you will need to delete all your cookies before going back to your site.
In fixing your issues with your test site, you should not be using tools.php on your live site. |

OK, let's go back to the beginning.
You have a *live* site installed with an index.php page which is vbadvanced and then a /forums/index.php page which is vbulletin. And you have a test site installed with /testvb/index.php which is vbadvanced and /textvb/forum.php which is vbulletin. Are all your cookie settings at the default on both sites? (/ for path and (blank) for domain)? Do you have a cookie prefix set for either the test site or main site in your config.php pages for each of those or are they the same for each? It's very hard for me to follow what you are up to at times. |

Hi wm
It looks like the whole thing is a bit of a muddle, you may need to start from scratch, take a backup of your main DB, then set the whole thing up so that the live site files are all in public_html/forum (except VBA which will be in public_html), then set the test forum up in public_html/test (VBA here)/forum (main files here). Using a subdomain in this way can be very tricky as you have discovered, much better to set it out in a simple way. If you need a hand PM me and I will help set it up for you. |
