Sending Email to users via Admin panel

I tried sending out an e-mail to my registered users. I have 12,000 and it seems to be timing out each time.
I had it set to 500 at a time.
Is there a way to have it automated that I don't have to sit there waiting to hit next each time? Also is there a way to confirm each one?

I ended up starting it over again a few times which meant that the first hundred users or so received the e-mail each time.
