Which vB 4 version are you using? Do you have any modifications that could be conflicting with it? Do you use a cache? Which widget are you using? The widget may be querying the database directly, while vB itself uses a cache typically for user stats, etc.
The VB version is 4.1.4. I have turned off any potentially problematic mods i.e. vsa advanced forum stats. there are no other mods I can see that would conflict. I added the widget at the same time I posted here so that would not conflict. I have not been using a cache at all so that rules out that one.
