Show Only Certain Subforums

Alright folks, I need some suggestions.

I'm going to have a main forum with nearly 60 sub-forums. So, I'd need to know how to go about showing only some of the subforums in order to keep the forum home page as neat and uncluttered as possible.

I'm thinking of using the following mod ....

.... once I get it all setup so that I can try and promote the use of all forums with topics that may cross into other topics on other forums.

But, can I show only certain sub-forums (like my most active) on the forum home page?

I just pick a few sub-forums to show on my main page and I put them in my Description.

So, you add them as links within your description field Lynne?

Yeah, that's what I do cuz I want to show some of the forums, but not others.

Yup, got it done!

I've got 56 bands that I have forums for and I put the most popular 10 or so within the description field with a little ♫ next to it

....now, one more thing Lynne (or anyone for that matter), how can I take many subforums and make them look more organized once you are within the subforum?

For example....here's the forum once you are in it.... http://www.glamrocktalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=3 ... obviously I have a lot of subforums and the threads are WAY at the bottom. Can I flip that and put the threads at the top with the subforums underneath? Or, is there a better way to display multiple subforums like that?

I think there are some modifications to either move the sub-forums to the bottom, or display them in different ways. Try doing a search on "sub-forum*" or "subforum*" or just "forum*" (note the wildcard, *, at the end) in "all mods" "titles only".

Your site makes me smile. I have a music related site also, and we've had some funny times doing "80s hair week" or "mullet week" since it is all music related avatars we end up with (memories from my childhood). I wonder what all these guys kids think of pictures of them from back then!

As far as the research for the sub-forums being moved to the bottom, I still have yet to find a mod/hack for it. But, I'm still looking! Thanks for your suggestions on the searches. This *may* help - I've never tried it, but it may be useful after some tweaking (or straight out, I'm not sure) - Cyb - Sub-Forum Manager

Have you tried just tweeking the FORUMDISPLAY template yourself to try to move the sub-forums to the bottom?

Thanks Lynne. Nope, that won't help me, I use that hack on another forum already though

I just posted a minute ago about wanting some assistance on editing (tweaking) the FORUMDISPLAY template and making it a 'tabbed approach' with the band names grouped alphabetically (A-E on Tab #1, F-J on Tab #2, etc) to make things a little more user-friendly.

Since I've added the mod (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=181876) to help me with the threads all showing in one spot, this is the logical way to display the bands, IMO.

Hopefully I'll get some help on the thread that I just posted to (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=168713) and get this puppy goin' like I want it to!
