Default how do I remove post counts from threads?

Kind of self-explanitory. Any info i find from googling the subject is 2+ years old. Is there a simple option that I'm missing somewhere?

also - this is a bit more trickier - when I apply an update to a forum, how do I ensure that all my custom modifications aren't over-written?

Thanks in advance.

You would need to edit the template to remove the post count (look for post.posts).

Your modifications shouldn't be overwritten unless you had to edit files, in which case you need to do so again, or uploaded files, in which case make sure the files remain, or you edited a template, in which case make sure you don't revert the template or you edit the template again.

Thanks Lynne.

I tried commenting the "offending" text out with /* and */ after, but that did not work. How can I disable that code without removing it? Everything I've turned up in google hasn't worked.

I'd rather not delete it in case I want to put it back at some point...

/* and */ is how you would comment out PHP. Templates are html code so you need to use <!-- and -->

And deleting it is fine. If your template is modified, there is a View Default (and View History) link which will show up when you edit the template. Clicking View Default allows you to view the default template, and View History allows you to view the differences between your modified template and the default template.

That you kindly, Lynne. I appreciate the explanation and your patience!
