you were close, I put this at the front of the block and it aligned to the correct width.

<table border="0" width="$stylevar[outertablewidth]" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" align="center"> and </table> at the end

one last question...
how do I make the bar with the quick style chooser and contact us, archive, top links so its all the way at the bottom, so when you scrool down the last thing there is that bar.
