Catagory Strip Gradient Questions

I was playing some new colors on my forum that I just got running. I liked the way the catagory strips had a gradient but I wanted to try green. So I created the new gradient images in photoshop and replaced the old ones on my server. Then I made the color changes in admincp. Here is what I don't understand:

#66CC00 url(images/gradients/gradient_tcat.gif) repeat-x top left

Can someone explain to me how this is supposed to work??? My catagory strips don't really appear to have a gradient or the color is just completely off from the gradient images that I created. Help please.
