2.3.0 to VB3, Is it worth upgrading?
Just wondering, from what I've heard upgrading to VB3 from 2.3.0 or a later 2.2.x version will not really be an option since the code is going to be a lot different.
Is this true? I'm sure some of you compulsive hackers realize how much time we have all put into our boards, and the thought of doing that all over again does not sound fun at all. I just upgraded to 2.3.0 today using a side by side file comparison program, which took me maybe an hour tops and I was able to keep all of my modifications, but when I hear things like VB3 is going to be completely recoded from the 2.2.x/2.3.0 series, it makes me wonder if it's going to be worth it to upgrade, let alone if it is going to be possible. I mean if the files are 90-100% different, you can immagine the frustration.. Obviously there will be some feature enhancements, but I've personally added a TON to my board. Many of these things that I've done I am not sure if they will work on VB3. It just makes me wonder if it's worth the time and effort. What do you guys think about this? ~006 |
