Downloading Mods?

Is there any odds of getting viruses from downloading mods etc... such as trojans (keylogger)???

Thanks, btw I ain't saying there is one, just wondering if there is any chance

Edit: I feel they are safe, I was just curious and I will report any if I think that are deemed to be unsafe.
