RPG Integration Hack v3.5.1 Patch Level 2 [/high]RPG Integration Hack (RPG hack for short) v3.5.1 is the first step into the next generation of the classic hack compiled by Bitsys. For those that are unfamiliar with any of what I mentioned above, heres a quick rundown of what this hack is and does. The RPG hack adds a whole new level of fun to a forum, by allowing uses to duke it out in a fierce battle. Use items to turn the tide of the battle, or use powerful spells to bring down an opponent. Or you can just rely on the good old sword to cut your enemy down to size! Create or join a clan to amass an army and conquer the boards. Patch yourself up after a hard battle. Feeling lucky? Go bet on the lottery! No RPG forum should be without. Administrator controls every single aspect of how the hack works, right down to every item and an user's level/stat gains. Wow this thread is still going... I guess I should make some form of announcement...
There's good news, and there's bad news. The bad news is that it's not going to be freely available here, due to the sheer amount of time I've put in it. The good news is that I am working on v4, and it is shaping up to be awesome. Not necessarily with features alone, but because it's module based. What it means is that if you want only, say, support for Guilds, and you don't care about Battles or Items or any such things, you can get only those two features. You're not paying a huge premium for features you don't want, and you're not bogging your forum down with queries for features you don't want. Since I'm barely done with the Core (which is nothing beyond character creation), and even that's not fully ready for all the modules I'll be writing for it over time, I don't have any time frame or pricing (not that I would be allowed to mention the latter even if ). All I can say is, it's going to be quite reasonable, and you will be able to pick up every single module without feeling like you just bought something that should be delivered to you via a Concorde with fox skin seats and a parade of dancing girls. v4 is also going to be easier to install, and I've scrapped the installer used in v3 in favour of vBulletin's own product installer system. Thus far, nothing is requiring template changes either. Additionally, it's not going to require an external money modification to work (but I'll probably add support for it at some point in the future), so none of the configuration hassle that's apparent in this thread. You can check the progress on the RPG via the site I have listed as my Home Page. Just keep in mind: Please don't join there just to PM me asking for details or updates or anything. When there's updates available, a post will be made in the RPG forum on that site. Oh, and don't join there to tell me I suck for "selling out" either; I have the banhammer and I'm not afraid to use it =P |

I have to say THANK YOU for coming back and letting us know that something is being worked on. Recently, our current verson of your hack has had to be disabled due to it messing with our 3.5 vB showthread.php...and it's one of the most popular features of our board. If there's any way you can keep it so that it works with the 3.5+ series I would sincerely appreciate it. I'm not sure if that's doable, but there are alot of us still using the older versions. Still, and regardless, I can only wish you the best...you have truly made an exceptional mod, and I know tons of us are happy to hear this announcement. I hope there will be a way to migrate users experience points and perhaps automatically sell everyones equipment prior to an upgrade to 4. I will not mind paying for a robust RPG.

I didn't have any immediate plans to provide an upgrade path from v3 to v4, since it's a vastly different mod where very little will actually seamlessly port.
However, I might look into creating some form of importer - though it's going to be filled with a fair amount of default values, I reckon. |

An importer with many default values or even just a way to initially distribute base exp. based on post count would be fantastic. I just don't want everyone who worked on their existing RPG characters to feel like they've just been wiped.
