what is the point of this thread? no forum information is stored in as flat files and php has to be in a file to work. obviously who ever wrote what you read is an idiot who has never used vBulletin.

it's a mere discussion, i.e. people say the DB should only be used for data you want to modify, where as others feel it should be used for storage, it's like using a DB for a counter, that's OTT and really not needed.
