Default New VBSEO thread *Child Proof*

My response to joey in that thread. (I promise, I wont be the one getting this thread closed by saying one word)

Look,

You can have your beef with them for all I care, you can push for them to change their promotion page to remove the get page indexed faster part.

All someone has to do to make an educated purchase is to research exactly what the product does before buying. I bought this knowing it would not shoot me into first spot on all my search phrases, I bought this because i prefer the cleaning of the urls. It makes it look more professional in my opinion and when will help give the extra edge over a competitor when all other variables such as the link backs and such are the same or close to the same.

A great feature that many do not know about is that is makes my life so much easier when using google analytics. The links are shown in rewritten form and provide me with a easy way to view the top content section.

I do not see where they claim you will be page 1 on all your search phrases if you buy this product. I was never lead on to believe this. I bought this knowing what I was getting and before anyone buys anything, let alone something that is 150 dollars, they should do the neccesary research before hand to make sure they are getting what they want.

Yes - actually it was a private message. Therefore, (since my comment needs to be considered in context) I would prefer that you post the entire PM here.

I don't know and I really don't care (not being smart, I just do not have any use for that feautre, nor do I see any use for anyone using other than to duplicate content which google frowns upon) so the product does exactly what I want.

If it doesn't work then I guess it doesn't work. I can't see many people buying VBSEO to remove duplicate content only to turn around and duplicate their content via parked domains.

I think many misunderstand what consitiutes duplicate content and the (assumed) penalty from google.

Oh really?

Well then please explain Google's penalty for duplicate content, especially when you have two different domain names that have the exact same content.

Please explain why Google would find this acceptable.

I didnt say that - I only said I think many misunderstand what consitiutes duplicate content and the (assumed) penalty from google.

Clarification: there is a real duplicate content penalty for content that is duplicated with minor or no variation across the pages of a single site. There is also a "mirror" penalty for a site that is more or less substantially duplicating another single site. What I'm talking about here is the reprint of pages of content individually, rather than in a mass, on multiple sites.
  • PageRank. Many thousands of high-PageRank sites reprint content and provide content for reprint. The most obvious case is the news wires such as Reuters (PR 8) and the Associated Press (PR 9) that reprint to sites such as www.nytimes.com (PR 10).
  • The proliferation of content reprint sites. There are now hundreds of websites devoted to reprint content because it's a cheap, easy magnet for web traffic, especially search engine traffic.
  • Experience. I've seen significant search engine traffic both from distributing content to be reprinted and from reprinting content on the site.

Just a tidbit from HERE

Aaaand... the 'PM that contradicts the notice on the site' doesn't do anything of the sort.

Juan, in the PM, states "I have to say I agree with you %100 in the fact that mod_rewrite is not necessary to get pages indexed.".

The site states:
Quote:
By installing vBSEO for your vBulletin forums you should expect to:

* Get more of your forum pages indexed in the major search engines
* Get your pages indexed faster
* Improve your keyword relevancy for all pages
* Prevent possible duplicate content penalties
.
Where is the contradiction? Nowhere in the list does it say that "vBSEO is necessary if you want your pages indexed". Nor does it even state that mod_rewrite is.

That's all good but we are talking about parked domains here with the same content as another domain.

thank you for trying to answer this.

i don't really have any need for parking more url's but this was a concern that i had with the vbseo script, because of my understanding ( and I could be wrong ) you must tell vbseo your site that the script is running on, and unless they " activate it " it wont work.
this is why I asked, because if you only have one of your sites activated, then would the park url's only show the normal links /showthread=9202 ect ?
