Marco: You can perhaps replace it with a mibbit widget, which works for more users than java.

namecheap.com had a massive ddos attack on their v2 dns system, resulting in timeouts, causing customers (like vbirc.com domain) to have unresponsive domains for some users.

It worked fine for me, but not for some others, but anyway, that could have been the culprit on the 16th.
