you could do it by changing the "<td bgcolor="{categorybackcolor}"" parts in the forumbits templates to whatever colour you wish the bg colours to be. :)

as the bunny says - it's more likely to be a browser specific coding problem than that of an os, both camino and firebird are mozilla derivitives.
