I have the need to "convert" one or more subforums from my vB 3.8 test site and do not know how that could be done?

Pentium D 935 to a Dual Opteron 246... Is it worth the trouble?

Hi all!

I have a vB with 1,8 M posts and 42 k users with 350 users on-line (peaks of 500-550) in a dedicated Pentium D 935 with 2GB RAM and a 250 GB SATA HDD. Oh... and a very limited budget :(....

I think that Sphinx works better than Google CSE. You have total control over Sphinx but not over the content indexed by Google nor the time that Google takes to index new posts.

Somewhere, above 1 million posts, the vB search and the Fulltext search became both too slow, too server intensive. Solution: Sphinx.
