I agree.. there seems to be an issue with the 'vb3_searchcore_text' table crashing all the time. Sometimes it repairs and all seems ok for a while.

What i've done is create a static index.html page that when requested pretty much comes up straight away....

You're right, it's not a large forum and has been running perfectly fine for a long time. It's on shared hosting and i've disabled all but one or two mods.

This issue really has me beat :)
