You have to delete the vBulletin 4 folders and files to install vBulletin 5.

vBulletin 5 automatically creates redirects for vBulletin 4 upgrades...

No. The database structures are entirely different. You have to upgrade a working copy of your live vBulletin 4 database. There is no other way to upgrade from vBulletin 4 to vBulletin 5.
