Notices Manager Doesn't Save - Loads Site in Admin Window

I tried to edit the default guest welcome notice, but when I hit the 'Save' button the entire right-side of the Admin window displays the front page of the website itself and does not save the edit....

It goes to a page that I created using Lynne's tutorial - aboutpage1.php in the root directory. But even if I use an existing location like groups.php the same behavior persists.

Any easy 4.1.4 bug fixes without actually upgrading?

I'm going to wait a while before upgrading to 4.1.4 (currently 4.1.3 PL1) but I was wondering if there were any easy fixes in the templates or PHP scripts that would be good to do in the meanwhile.
