Site wont log me in?

I login using the navbar login at the top of the forum and it says thank you for logging in. but when it refreshes back it shows me not logged in, but says im logged in on active users in stats.

How to make a button only viewable by guests

Ok when you visit my forum guests see the register button, but if they sign up it still shows for members so I want to make it a guest viewable only button, how can I do this, thanks....
