Problem with some special characters

I recently have had a issue with special characters.

For example % show up as: 50%

Any ideas what could be causing this?

If you use the "enhanced editing" interface it works as expected.

Still seeing sluggish scrolling. Strange, "mushy" is the best thing I can use to describe it, and I do not notice it in any other app.

Yes it was the login issue, its working now. Sorry for the confusion.

The sluggishness is odd and the tour is not a slow phone. Maybe just a minor graphics glitch.
