Handling large files?

I'm wondering how everyone deals with hosting large files. I'd like to be able to share some files that are upwards of 30 megs and I'd rather not rely on something like RapidShare to do so....

When a user recieves an infraction, is there a way to automatically mail/PM them letting them know? I know one can type a PM but I'd like to just have something automatically sent to them.

I've done searches and it doesn't return anything helpful. Perhaps its my ignorance of the search tool, but any search on "images" and "grps" just gives me, at most, eight or nine posts. :(
