I believe the solution I am going to go with is creating different templates for these particular sections that just house other sub-sections and linking to them with static page...

turn off home category links

how would i go about doing this, its just not logical to have on my home a cat that is parent to a cat that links to its forums.....i wanna turn off the links so they are just title, nothing more.
