Quick update, I've now moved my forums onto my own dedicated webserver with RapidSwitch Ltd, so the link I posted before in this thread isn't an indicator of HostGator's service ;)

How can I fetch the number of new posts from a specific forum? I doubt this can be done with templates alone, so I'm expecting a bit of php is required. How could I achieve this?

It's simply a limitation of Shared hosting. I'm looking at getting a dedicated machine for my site.
