update attachment

Is there an option or plugin/hack that allows users to update an attachment rather then delete and re-upload a new one. That way it wont reset the download counter.

Any help will be appreciated.

I have edited the newthread template to contain some extra dropdown boxes.
When the user submits the new thread i want to retrieve those fields. Something like $_POST['cat']. But where would i try...
