Alternatives to MS Frontpage
 

I'm workngi on soem static web stuff for a school project and don't feel liek manually coding in HTML. Does anyone know any free alternatives to Frontpage? Something like open office (I thin kthats what its called) but for web design.

Its much better to code from scratch, none of the wysiwyg editors make complients standards html most of the time.

I'm not wanting anything fancy. Its for a school project; no one here knows how to make a web site. I throw up a page with a background and text andf I'm god. I just don't feel like hardcoding it. It doesn't need to be standard complient or anything.

I use notepad.

If I screw up, I switch to Ultraedit

So there is pretty much no free alternative WYSIWYG editor like Frontpage that you guys know of?

Dreamweaver always makes XHTML-compliant code for me when you create a document with that setting checked.

If it is just for school you can download the trial of dreamweaver. Wouldn't that be 'cheating' though? :)

Exactly, and for that reason I am using DW to code all my PHP and HTML.

Give the guy a break, go with the dreamweaver trial :)

go with DW. Its easier to give yourself an appendectomy with a dull spoon than do anything useful with MS FP.
