Get a doctorate and you're good. Of course that's many years, a lot of effort, and a lot of money.

Doctorate programs range from 4 - 7 years (at least here in America), and that's after the 5 - 6 years you'll first spend getting your masters. :p

I'm going for a masters in Computer Science, but I don't know about Ph.D ;)

Ph.D's do indeed take a longggggggggg time. My uncle did it and it took him, I dunno, ages lol.

A PhD full-time in Australia takes 3 years.

Damn like 10 years just to become a doctor. How does one live for that long in full-time education? I can understand a student loan for 2-3 years in Uni but 10years. You'd be in debt forever :(

Medicial Practicioner is 3/4 years here, it's fabulous. Of course if you have the right prerequisites chosen and all, it's alot shorter then other countries. A profession I am considering. :)

So in conclusion, move to Australia. :p :D

Here in canada, if you become a family physician sort of doctor, you make close to 750k a year by opening a practise...so thats how they pay it off ;)

Sure if you get a phd in computer sciences, you will have a better job, meaning better pay, just invest like 1000$ per month, which will be nothing compared to your overall salary for few years then it is paid off.

Dean - Your student loan is only going to be about ?3,000 - ?4,000 per year - You don't have to start paying it back until you are earning over a specific wage, which I think is ?15,000 a year... Even then, you determine how much you pay back...

Assuming you do get a job of ?100,000 a year, thats only ?40,000 you have to pay back - You determine the payments, and you can pay something like ?5,000 back per year;)
