auto forum backup
 

i need somekind of script that backs up certain tables such as the user table every 500 page views or so. my forum user table always crashes and i cant use the repair.php to repair it and i need to upload my last user table backup.

Just cron a script to dump the database at least daily. Search and ye shall find.

i want to do it without cronning. my host is an ass about it. i just want something like every 500 page views backsup my user table

If your host doesn't allow crons, you should instead attempt to solve that problem first, IMO at least :)

Bare minimum to run vB (IMO again):
1. PHP 4.3.0
2. MySQL 3 (latest version, but not 4 because it acts screwy with vB)
3. SSH
4. Cron

i have all of the 4 listed, its just that to cron something i have to email them to have them set it for me. unlike my old host that allowed me to cron anything.

I am using MySQL 4.0.12 and it is working very well with vB. :)

I'm using that, too, on localhost, and so far it seems to be working okay, but when it was running on real WDF I was getting those thread.myi errors almost daily...

well uh can anyone make this hack?

As it would be a PHP-based method, it would be unreliable. Your only option would be cron-based.
