What do you use to stop spam on your forum?
 

Just asking, since I'm pretty confident I've solved the whole problem of spam. I just use question and answer + custom questions that aren't dictionary solvable and pre moderation for each users first five posts, and visitor messages, and blog comments, and gallery comments and private messages.

Besides, question and answer > recaptcha > captcha

i havent had much of a problem with spam since i install cant post links until 25 posts.
but i guess i do get the od member that posts a link like this lol www. myforum .com

We use Is Bot: Registration Time Check
Also, our Registered Usergroup is not our main group. I created another one with Promotions set to move users into it and this gives me the option to make Registered Users moderated at the touch of a button.

In addition to the Human Verification, reCAPTCHA etc... activated, I have been using the following quite effectively:

1. Check Proxy RBL on New User Registration
2. Is Bot: Registration Time Check
3. vbStopForumSpam
4. Spam List: Block 261022 Registration Email Domains

Those spammers (*) who succeed in passing through these lines of defense will manually (through Moderation using "Check4SPAM - Advanced SPAM Search & Destroy!") end up in a "Miserable Usergroup" fortress. :)

(*) Here are some of those spammers who have succeeded in passing through and manually ended in the "Miserable Usergroup". They do not disturb my forum any more.
