Hello
I mm running a Forum with 75k members 150k posts from last few days i mm facing huger server load. I have average of 300-400 users online. But when i have more than 450 users online at ones my server goes slow and i face huge server load. Today i had like 550 users online and my server load went to 14.90 (4 cpus):( . My Site is running very slow:rolleyes:. Here is my server info Intel Dual Woodcrest Processor 2 x 250GB Hard drive 2 GB Ram Please suggest me some thing Thanks Ahsin |
You need SCSI drives for databases. 15K rpm is preferable. I would also add more memory. It should tide you over for a bit.
On the software side, install APC or one of the other php accelerators. Configure vb to use the datastore. Tune Mysql. Install sphinx to unload the heavy searches from Mysql. |

I assume a few hundred megabytes. That will fit in memory, so hard drives won't matter at all. |

Yeh my databse is small 660mb |
I was using a Dual Xeon 3.2GHz to hold a 60k userbase with 5 million posts and 900 online peak. It never got more than a 2.00 load.
You should request server optimisation at vbulletin.com forums. APC will help, but it?s probably some bad conf to be that huge load. http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=14 |
are you streaming your MDO Radio from your server?

Finally i decided to request Server optimization.
according to this this thread i got all the information but i mm stuck on step no 11. "if you run Apache and you have your own dedicated server or access to your httpd.conf (apache configuration file) can you post the values you have set for the following : KeepAlive MaxKeepAliveRequests KeepAliveTimeout MinSpareServers MaxSpareServers StartServers MaxClients AND Maxrequestsperchild value =" Could u please tell me how to do that i will be thankful to you Ahsin |

Hey, I may have a little tip for you. I assume you have SSH access to your server, try these steps. There are really simple ( I did it to mine and freed up 50% RAM) It's something to do with Apache and benefits your server load by huge amounts.
Try it out. I am not 100% sure if this was the tut (as I googled it) but it looks like it: http://www.agnivo.com/tech/vps-mysql...-guide-27.html |
