Well, small and simple, thanks :D

There's no "_" in my name.. ;)

Thanks for the port Kirby, I simply can't get my head around the new code at the moment.

lcryan 08-20-2005 03:09 AM

i dont see it =/

Boofo 08-20-2005 03:29 AM

Don't see what? This makes the Admin Notes available to all Admins now instead of your own notes available to only you.

nexialys 08-21-2005 12:33 AM

to make my wishes, i would like this to be not global, but independant... one Global Admin Notes, and one like the original, per admin...

Isn't it already like that before you install this? ;)

He means that he wants one Global, and one Personal.. :p

If I ever get to grips with OOP and the Plugin system, I might look at making some kind of switch to allow the admin to select between the "Global" notes and "Personal" notes. This will of course require a change in the SQL tables, however.

Kirk Y 08-23-2005 07:20 PM

I too would like a personal and global admin notepad. Also... if I were to install the plugin, what would happen to the notes already in the admin's individual notepads?

Well effectively, they'll be lost.

In the 3.0.x version of this modification, I added a query to initially clear the individual Admin Notes just in case any errors occurred.. This doesn't do that, but the first admin to change their notes will effectively make other admins have the exact same notes, and from then on any changes made by any admin will effect the other admins too.

007 09-12-2005 05:04 AM

How hard would this be to include the mod notes too so mods can leave notes for admins?

Andreas 09-14-2005 05:28 AM

I've updated this so Global Notes are now independant:
You can have only personal, global and personal or only global notes.

Boofo 09-18-2005 05:13 AM

Does the AJAX Admin Notes product still work with this version now?

EDIT: I entered a Global Note and when I refreshed the page it was gone. I also tested by logging out of the Admin CP and logging back in and it was gone again. Maybe I'm not understanding how this works, but shouldn't it still be there? And I un-installed the AJAX Amin notes before testing this.

Andreas 09-18-2005 05:44 AM

I don't think that this is compatible with AJAX Admin Notes.
And this Hack does not use AJAX, meaning you have to click Save.
But then it should work.

Boofo 09-18-2005 05:52 AM

I clicked save and the note was there until I refreshed or logged out of the Admin CP and logged back in.

Andreas 09-18-2005 05:58 AM

So you mean they are gone when you log out or refresh?
Normally that can't be ...
Please check the contents of Table administrator if it's there.

Boofo 09-18-2005 06:10 AM

The note is in the table ok, but it doesn't show in the Global Notes box in the Admin CP.

Andreas 09-18-2005 06:12 AM

What exactly is in the table and what does it show (or not)?
And which mode do you have activated?

Boofo 09-18-2005 06:18 AM

I have Only Global Admin Notes enabled. The note I entered is in the Administrator Table but that note does not show up in the box.

Andreas 09-18-2005 06:22 AM

I ask again:
What exactly is in the administrator table (fieldname, value)?

Boofo 09-18-2005 06:31 AM

Does this help? I am userid 2, by the way.

Andreas 09-18-2005 06:34 AM

Yes. It clearly shows that there are no global notes at all.
Edit: OK, there was a wrong condition. Should be fixed now.
Guess I should not only have tested display but also saving :D

Boofo 09-18-2005 06:52 AM

Much better. The note is showing up now on refresh. ;)

Oblivion Knight 09-18-2005 07:15 AM

Nice to see you taking this one step further Kirby.. :)

Boofo 09-18-2005 07:56 AM

I think he stumbled on that step, though, but recovered nicely. ;)

mclark2112 10-17-2005 11:27 PM

Thanks, this is a great hack.

Any way to switch positions of the boxes? Global on top, personal on bottom?

Andreas 10-17-2005 11:57 PM

Maybe it would be possible to change the position in some cases - but surely not in all without doing file edits.

DannyMilner 10-28-2005 09:33 PM

Thanks... Installed this second... I ll test it later

- Clicked install

Thanks :)

da prez 01-13-2006 03:05 AM

thank you much and just for the record, the notes weren't showing up for other admins until i went to the adminp options and clicked save.

i went initally, and it said both, which is what i wanted, so i didn't do anything.
but found that other admins couldn't see it until i went back and clicked save.

smooth-c 02-29-2008 01:22 PM
