Ya know since you guys have merged..I was thinking up an idea :). Ya know, I am not quite great at php yet, but I do like messing with templates alot ( working on 3rd template hack ) you think you guys can come up with a coder tag for the template coders :). Ya know the regular hack developers ( amy, satan, Paul, Livewire, marco..all them ) have coder tags, well ya know people that release just simple template edits should be awarded for there work in templates...just a thought :-D. I am not that worried about me cause I am working on my php hack now :)...but for MANY others, it might be a very good idea :)..

Us coders would like it to stay the way it is now, just to show that a designer is way below a coder. :D

Just kidding, think it is a very good idea and it has been on my mind a few times before. I only think that we should have a double title then, a coder range and a designer range (normal, advanced, expert,....)

Oh yea, I totally agree with that, it should be like template coder or HTML wiz rofl, something like that.

I say this is a terrific idea, lets people know template mods are still worthy of some sort of title. ^^;

Hehe yea, I am still learning php and I know alot of people still are ( but learning fast :-D ) so this will give them something to play with :).

what about folks that are good at both? Would they have to choose which title they want or would they get both?

yep.. I noted that after I replied. regarding my name - my teenage kid picked it out when I signed up here, so I am stuck with it, and it would not have been my first nick choice! :D I told him to sign me up as yoyo, but since that was already taken he just tagged another yoyo at the end...

Out of curiosity, how are the 'coder, advanced coder, etc' done. Is that by number of hacks or installs or something?

For some bizarre reason it seems to be a big secret, no idea why ....

if this goes through can you post how the tags would go meaning x many hacks you get norm xx number of hacks you get advanced and xxx number of hacks you get expert :lick:

So what would template/style makers like to be called/titled?

Designer (could be confised with code design?)
Artist (too vague?)
Graphic Artists
Visual Artists
Stylist
....

....

It is a big secrect that they won't share :p I don't even think the moderators know. But i think i have a good ideas how it works.

1 Hack plus 10 installs = Coder
10 Hacks with a total of 500 installs = Advanced Coder
20 Hacks with a tital of 1000 installs = Master Coder

Thats just my guess. Anyways I like the idea, but don't take away the coder options. I'm working hard to get Master Coder :p

There is not fixed number to get a 'higher' title, like i said this is done manual.

o i thought you meant its only done manual for the coders.. didnt know it would be the same for templates.. o well i still like the idea :D

erm, Live Wire is right theoretically, still his numbers are incorrect ;)

and of course they can change as well ;)

regarding a template "coder" title:
Well html code is code as well, so coder is right ;)

also with vb3.5 and our new system we won't differ between templates and real hacks in that way anymore, so it won't be that easy

Well even if we don't differentiate between code hacks and template/style modification, i think a coder (writing PHP-code) is something very different from a designer (who is maybe using HTML-code, but is focused on the looks).

I dont know, I just thought it would be very nice to show the feedback for the people that mess with the templates and add cool things to them ( HTML ) ..I mean one of my template "hacks" has 18 installs I believe and then the other has like 8, and there are people like this all over vb.org now, that arent QUITE ready to release a full on hack yet, so they like to help out in others way to the community.

As long as people release quality hacks, no problems. :) Just don't let us catch you releasing hacks with little content in order to "spam" your "coder status". ;)

There are only 6 or 7 'master coders'. And i don't remember any of them having a total of 400 installs with that status.

rofl, yea erwin I mean I believe most people will release "quality" hacks, I just thought it would be a good idea to show people who are coders of template, hacks, ect and to let the regular html people to know that we got love for them to :).
