Why should I?

I was looking at switching to vb, but then again, why should?
I have to pay alot of money every year, and it still advertises itself on my forum, are there any reasons to switch?

It has better security. Better template editing. And more relyable. More features.

This would be best answered at http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/forum...php?forumid=47 .

it's kinda like those old navy shirts, you pay more for the name.....and you are proud to have the name on it ;)

have to pay every year????

even tho you have Owned License ??

Brad 02-08-2003 05:11 PM

Owned license:

You do not have to pay every year to keep running vBulletin on your server, however you must pay $30 every year to keep your member area access so you can download the latest versions.

Leased license:

You must pay $80 every year to keep running vBulletin on your server and keep members area access.

You would honestly be a fool not too :) The board is great alty29, with updates constantly and tons of hacks.

i would get owned licnese . insted of lease...

if i am going to run a forum for about 4 year or more

Cypher720 02-08-2003 08:21 PM

an owned is deffinately a great investment

narusaga 02-08-2003 08:23 PM

Iv worked with about every message system out there

>phpbb
>Ikon Board
>OpenBB
>XMB
>Invision Board

They all work....but VB is still kick booty better!

1) Save you more server space
2) Has More Hacks :D
3) Easyest to customize
4) ...Better....easier feature list

Yes, it will be alot easier to translate as I have heard.

duncan99 06-28-2003 04:33 PM

It looks like v3.0 still has not many style or mod template or hacks. Should I get the v2xx then upgrade later or v3.0 right away ?

vB 3 is still in beta, most will wait for the gold version to start releasing majior modifications. It depends on what you want to do. If you use vB 2 now you get more hacks but have to worry about losing it all to upgrade to vb 3. If you use vb 3 you wont have to worry about upgrading as much but you will have to wait for the bigger modifications.

Also vB 3 is beta right now, it may not be suitiable to run on a live site yet. Its really up to you to run the beta or not on your site. If you want the latest stable version, then you have to use 2.3.0
