So who is running 3.5?

Who is running vB 3.5 on their live site, and if you are, can you post a URL to it so we can see how well you've integrated it with your site (i.e. design, news modules etc)?

Running 3.5 @ localhost since 5 days :D

AN-net 06-09-2005 09:43 PM

this plug-in/hook system is going to confuse the fook outta me.

Andreas 06-09-2005 09:54 PM

It's not difficult to understand.
Basically there are locations all over the files that say "Call Code for Event X here".
You can then write Code for this Event (hook), which will be executed at these locations - that's it.

Me :) localhost and a live site.

filburt1 06-09-2005 10:18 PM

I'll be running it on localhost only for a while, the live site after that.

Paul M 06-09-2005 10:19 PM

Test site only for the forseeable future. :)

Jaxx 06-09-2005 10:21 PM

test site here also

Erwin 06-09-2005 11:02 PM

I would run it live except that there is a high potential for code change when Beta 2 is released. :)

Zero Tolerance 06-09-2005 11:26 PM

I got it running on a test site, simply to convert my skins, it's easier to use the default vB 3.5 templates and convert them to your specifications than to turn your current templates into ones which work with 3.5 fully.

Sure am glad they kept the variable $bbuserinfo for templates :p

Well I've got it running on my new site (behind closed doors) ;)

Been trying to self-port a few hacks over but this plugin system is a bit weird and takes getting used to - Gonna give up now and try again next week when I'm a little soberer ;)

Zero Tolerance 06-09-2005 11:38 PM

Only prob with the plugin system i have encountered so far is it takes longer to compile hacks, excluding the hook you need isn't available.

http://www.hellsatan.co.uk/forums .. ooh :p

Chris M 06-09-2005 11:51 PM

While you can access it from that url, the actual url going to be published is http://forums.hellsatan.co.uk/ :p

The problem I am encountering is to do with bitfields - Several of my own personal hacks used them in 3.0.7 and now I'm a bit confuddled as what to do :p

I'll work it out eventually, but as I say, I'll probably go "you stupid clod why didn't you xyz" when I sober up :p

I'm wanting to set-up my testboar but my install script isn't working.-_-.

Getting support right now..doesn't even make sense. As soon sa I get it up I'm installing all plug-in hacks...becuase its beta and I can. :D

so weird, I installed my test 3.5 on localhost, I don't know why I can't import my current 3.0.7 style, I got a blank page, hmmm

As announced on my forum, it won't be done for the beta versions, since they will be released like flies, waiting for the final (gold) release of vB 3.5 first :)

And my styles imported fine, but like i said, it's better to use the default vB 3.5 skin and convert that to your specifications instead of vice versa, less hassel in the long run.

I've upgraded my forums:

http://www.pokemonfanuniverse.com/forums/

As you can see, I'm not big on modifications. I've only made minor edits to 6 templates (added, deleted and/or modified a few areas) and I have 3 plugins installed.

deathemperor 06-11-2005 02:33 PM

cool, your members are the very first ones to be happy with vb3.5, I want it too but it's a long story...

To be honest, I'm not sure they noticed a difference besides the fact that some things didn't work during the first 24 hours and that I posted we had done an upgrade. ^_^;;

They'll notice soon through. I'm porting hacks that I like from earlier versions of vBulletin to vBulletin 3.5.0's plugin system so I can have them on my forums. I now have 4 plugins, of which 3 I've ported.

Chris M 06-11-2005 07:33 PM

There isn't a great deal of change on the user-side of vB3.5, so it's unlikely that the average user will notice ;)

deathemperor 06-12-2005 02:41 AM

posting new quick reply without refreshing the page, that may be the only one for now. That's enough to boost the posts already !

mholtum 06-12-2005 03:14 AM

I am running 3.5 on a private testing server.. I have no plans on going live till gold.

Jagged Tooth 06-17-2005 06:13 AM

I'm only running it on my desktop, just till it's more stable. I might upgrade my main forum later.

deathemperor 06-17-2005 06:24 AM

I'm gonna upgrade it, however my private hacks needs to be recoded so I think I'll just wait.

Successfully remake my style for vb3.5 tho.

kall 06-17-2005 07:20 AM

www.nzboards.com => 3.5-ized. :)

Managed to get the ibproarcade working with it, otherwise...it's become NZB-lite until Brian upgrades vBaCMPS/Gallery. :)

Oblivion Knight 06-17-2005 07:42 AM

Like others, I have no plans to upgrade to 3.5.0 until the final version..

I don't have the time to continually upgrade between betas.

Niceboy 06-17-2005 08:36 AM

i dont see any point for upgrade it dont seem to me there is alot of change so i dont have any plan to upgrade my board at all only in the final v . when vb3.0.x removed and people start use the 3.5

Thankyou :)

Nor do I...it hasn't become compulsory all of a sudden, has it?

.Tim 06-19-2005 03:36 PM

Running it on mine and everything is just fine, a few hacks aren't there anymore but a few have either been re-done officially or I was able to modify to work until and official one comes out. I think it was worth the upgrade.

angelicGrace 06-19-2005 07:27 PM

I have it installed on my localhost but I havne't actualy tried doing anything with it yet. lol
