Prevent Double Posting
 

Can someone do a port of the VB2 hack that prevented double posting by automatically editing the previous post with the contents of the new one if the poster made the last post on the thread within a certain time frame and had no attachments? (Phew, huge run on sentence.) It was incredibly helpful when I ran VB2 and I hope someone can recreate it.

Then wouldn't that just remove the old content of the old post?

I'm talking about that one. And it adds the new post on to the old one.

It sounds really awesome - I would love to have this hack, as well. At the moment, I'm editing togeather all double posts by hand, but this would save me loads of time.

I'd like to get rid of the not merging posts if the new one has an attachment, though.

Okay Xenon said he will be releasing this hack sooner or later, so I'll leave that for him :)

i released a template mod to make sure the quick reply is no longer there, however it did not totaly prevent dbl posting

i will release this hack very soon, i'm, just very busy these days, but i will definitely release a port over

(with the vb3 attachmentsystem this could become interesting ;))

from what i've seen so far it's no longer a mini mod, as the way of new posting changed strongly in vb3, but i think, it will be possible :)

I like Quick Reply, and don't really see why it would stop double posting, even a little bit.

well if you disallow the quick reply if the user is the last poster.

it forces them to do extra work ;D which most users wont do

Well either hit Reply button or Edit button if they have something to say then :)

Oh - I get what you're saying now. I thought you meant it disabled Quick Reply always.

Well then you might as well turn it off if it did :p
