vBXirc
PLEASE READ This thread is only here for users who have already installed this hack, there is no longer a public version of vBXirc for vBulletin 3.0.xThere will be a 3.5.x version in the near future. Sorry for any problems this may have caused. |
Good job! If I remember correctly I have this installed on my forums.
|
^^
version 2.5 is just about ready for a release, im just working on adding the ACP pages and finilazing the templates :) |
as always fella, GREAT JOB. I have had this installed from when you first started testing it :)
|
I've got this from vbtemplates, problem now is I have to click install, hehe
|
thx for this great integration :D
but i have a small question is it possible to use custom header and footer templates for the chat window? i tried to replace the $header variable to $custom_header but without success does anybody know, what i can do now? |
Does this hack restrict chat to registered members only? My concern is: I don't want people to be able to choose nicknames... steal other peoples identities in the chat room. Looks pretty cool otherwise. :)
|
I am new to vB and curious what needs to be done to install this. There is no install information in the zip. Evidently there is a lot more to do than edit index(vb3) and rename it to index.php.
|
Diver it will be in my next version by default however if you wish ill give you the code to do it.
Nighteyes, ATM no it doesnt however when 2.5 is finished there will be a unregistered switch in the ACP to allow/disallow registered members. Xenos all that needs to be done, if you read the install.html, is copy the template into your chat template that you will make and your done, besides fpting your files in place :) |
Thanks Faranth. I downloaded the zip again and found the missing files.
|
As I told you before Faranth this will make a more than fitting replacement for my vB2 chat hack, I'll definitely install this.
|
Installed with no problems. To avoid having to change the header template, just put the files and directories in the root folder, delete all the php files, and use a separate style and add the applet to the forumdisplay template, then make that style permanent for a particular forum, and link to that forum. :)
|
for my next version there will be an installer, it will install the templates to the global style
plus there is 6-7 templates for the next version for the options that im including :) also alot of the options will be setable via the ACP :) |
Are you planning (or could you consider) adding the feature of showing who is currently or recently in the chat room on another page? I think this has been done recently in the VB3 jIRC hack.
look forward to the new version! |
i MIGHT be able to, but dont count on it, im not sure how jIRC does it. anyone who is doing it is probally doing it via an eggdrop, or a server service, however i might be able to define the chat location and do somthing with that, howeveer if they continue to browse the forums then that location would drop
|
Ok, I think I'm gonna be installing anyway :)
You could always have a "Users who have recently entered the chat room list..." log the time each person goes in and give them say a 60min expiration time. This might not be good for sites where people sit there all night, however for sites with short span chat sessions it would be handy. |
if i cant get vBXirc 2.5 finished tonight expect it tomorow, i just need to finish the settings group and recoding / standardizeing the templates

|

|
updated
|
Thanks for doing the update :)
I have a problem though, I've installed and everything seemed to go ok. In the options I have selected #ukbboy to be my room, however when the chat window opens the room is always #geekjunto how can I fix that? thanks |
weird, oh you know what i bet i didnt update a template lol lemme post the fix :)
|
Cheers :)
Do I just reupload or do I need to run the install script again? I was also wondering if there is a way to remove the "change nick" box. Part of the advantage of only allowing access to members is that they use their own names (they could of course type /nick, but most don't know about that.) |
yes you can remove the nick box,
read my first post on how to fix your first question :) find in both vbxirc_index and vbxirc_small HTML Code:
<!-- start nickinfo --> HTML Code:
<!-- start nickinfo --> |
thanks :)
On your first post though there is a typo, it shoudl be: <param name="command1" value="/join #geekjunto"> should be changed to: <param name="command1" value="/join $vboptions[ircroom]"> |

not sure why but for some reason I get a 'IRC applet not found'when i move mouse over the chatwindow.
It stays gray. |

also this probally wont work correctly (Templatewise) if your still using beta 7 |
You have:
<param name="host" value="$vboptions[ircroom]"> Should be: <param name="command1" value="/join $vboptions[ircroom]"> I'm having one final issue. When your not logged in and a user selects to go to the chat, they are presented with the VB login screen, but on logging in users are forwarded to a 404 page (http://www.domain.com/forum/chat/login.php) - is there a way they can be taken to the chat? many thanks for a great hack! |
