[TO DO] warning for newthread in release area
i know there used to be an agrement page that you had to read before posting a new thread in the release section, i belive you guys should do the same again but with some if statments to keep the newbies from posting support topics there by acident ;)
and with the statement, there should be a check box thats if not clicked will not let them submit the new post the check box being an agreement to posting a new hack |
Wow how did we forget about this. You're right - this was one of the most important things on vBulletin.org when it was running vb2. A countdown on the submit button before it can be clicked of say 30seconds would be nice too (as an addition to what we had :))

we'll think of it, in regarding the newbie threads.. |

but just checking a box doesnt seem like a big deal to me for hackers to submit, plus i think that it might be nice to have the option to either garuntee support or not again :) |
just stay patient ;)
we're not finished with the changings on vb.org and vb3, just very busy these times |
i understand :)

Exactly - for the sake of 30seconds its worth it :)

I think we are waiting for RC at this point. We are trying to keep hacking to a minimum here. Upgrading is already hard enough as it is. :) |
its not hacking ;) its a template mod with a larger conditional statment :)

but as i said in the chat yesterday, it's on the todo (at least the long page, not the waitingtime :)) |
as long as its here when RC1 comes ill be happy :D
|
hmm, i think we can add it until 2004 :p

Yes a newbie sometimes accidently creates a irrelevant thread that but that is not very frequent, is it? (It seems to be happening once in every week or so for now). Visiting that thread and reading the first post, then going on to a new thread should be causing you much less time than creating this thread ;) I guess I'm suppose to be the one who is complaining here as I moderate these threads, warn thread starter, calm down angry thread contributers etc. :) |

i just think it would get rid of 99% of these threads and cause less hassle for the you ^^ and less spamming by the members who like to pick on the newbs |
If you don't like them you don't have to help you know :) Just a kind pointer to use the search box with a keyword from your knowledge of the hack will point them in the right direction and (hopefully) cure them of their phobia of searching ;)
|
i'Ve removed the newthread link within the showthread-template now.
Accidentially created threads shouldn't be possible now anymore :) we'll see how much that'll help :) |

it was the first thing i removed on all of my own forums as it just made problems. @Dean: there were already replys as new threads, just because of the wrong button :) |
Yes Stefan - when i make new threads its always when i'm in my last thread of browsing :)
