Why would someone be against photopost? I could understand not wanting to pay the money for it but its a very nice system. No reason to actually hate it. Hmm.
|
maybe its a server intensive script? or its just bad coding that some one hates?
|
*cough* I'm making a image/file repository script *cough*
I didn't get it done by the end of summer (as I had hoped), and college is now delaying things a bit--but, progress is still going very good. ;) |
yeah i know volocd i mentioned it in irc yesterday but the thing is, i have no ideas when yours will be ready or what it'll be like
|
Definitely go with PhotoPost! The community spirit of your forums really benefits from a proper photo gallery. PhotoPost is simple to use and their developers respond to issues. It does not require much hands on attention from administrators; just appoint a couple gallery moderators.
Velocd's hack is not bad if you have small forums where people are happy with a single picture. But each poster usually adds 5+ images to their portfolio. Only a few people upload just one picture. We have been running PhotoPost for 7-8 weeks and wish we had done it much sooner. |
your forums does make me wanna get it i admit but then again for the reasons that any gallery could perform i suppose.
i suppose 2 add-ons i'd like of which one exists if to be able to access the gallery on forums home (with thumbnails at the bottom of forum home) and the ability to view a specific catergory in thread view. |
If I was to need another gallery I would buy another photopost. I have yet to have a trouble with it.

That is a simple photo-gallery script, this new script is something more along the lines of.. a personal DeviantART (integrated with vBulletin). Quote:
[high]* Velocd notes he hasn't been in the VB.org irc channel in months[/high] |
i didn't mention it to you, i mentioned it to chen, floris, kura, etc
|
PhotoPost has vB3 integration and very fast support in there members forums

I ditched photopost for OakGallery - I needed something where people could actually get a URL for their pictures just in case they wanted to link to them.
The thread is here - https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=51255 OakGallery is donationware - if you use it, PayPal ?ke a few bucks if you can. |

Wow, talk about an old thread....
ShutterAlley is similar to deviantart; but based on PhotoPost (with some custom extras). It can be done. |
